According to NASA’s report, an asteroid that is the same size as the Empire State Building will “closely approach Earth” in 2135. It’s not as dangerous as it sounds. NASA’s report says that the impact of the asteroid through 2135 will be about one in 1,750, or 0.057 percent. NASA researchers also discovered that Bennu’s potential impact will occur on September 24, 2182. This has an impact probability of just one in 2,700, or about 0.037 percent. NASA’s OSIRIS REx spacecraft has been closely monitoring Bennu for the past two-years. Despite the low chances of it hitting Earth, it remains “one of two most dangerous known asteroids” in the solar system. It is still possible for the asteroid to fly into Earth, but the chances are slim.
