Los Angeles – Television’s A List returned to the red carpet on Sunday in high fashion for the Emmys – a more traditional display of sartorial savoir faire following last year’s virtual event. These are the key takeaways from Hollywood’s most famous stars as they walked up to the Emmys’ first in-person event in two years.

Grab your gowns

The Emmys come on the heels a number glamour-filled moments by the glitterati. These included the MTV Video Music Awards and the Venice film festival.

Anya Taylor-Joy, star of the acclaimed chess drama “The Queen’s Gambit,” looked stunning in a backless butter-colored Dior gown with a dramatic bright-colored shawl. The train dipped in a long train.

Emma Corrin, the star of “The Crown”, wore buttery yellow as well. She attended the London satellite party in a Miu Miu strapless floor-length gown, long fingerless gloves, and a bonnet.

Mj Rodriguez was nominated for her work in “Pose”, a show that examines New York’s 1980s underground dance culture. She posed in a Versace one-shoulder turquoise Versace dress with a thigh-baring cut and pointed fingernails.

Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso) star was an Emmy winner for best supporting actor in a comedy. She wore a peach Christian Siriano one-shoulder gown to collect her statuette.

Catherine Zeta Jones looked elegant in a strapless, wine-colored gown with high slits and perfectly coordinated shoes. She was joined by Emmy nominee Michael Douglas.

Let’s listen to the boys!

Men’s fashion used to be an afterthought in awards shows for a long time. But, recent years have seen them bring the drama. Billy Porter, the “Pose” star, was seen on the Oscars red carpet wearing a Christian Siriano tuxedo dress. He was accompanied by high-waisted trousers and a form-fitting Ashi shirt with huge ruffled flounces at the sleeves. There were also diamonds galore.

The 2019 Emmy winner stated on the red carpet, “I made the right decision with ‘Pose” and finally had a platform on television and film to use these red carpets as another way of expressing my creativity.”

Cedric the Entertainer was the night’s host. He is known for his stylish dressing and wore a bright turquoise suit with black detailing and lapels.

Jason Sudeikis, the star of “Ted Lasso”, also wore a blue suit. It was a velvet Tom Ford tuxedo with wide lapels. The bow tie was an oversize one.

Double nominee Kenan Thompson opted for a pink suit – definitely bold.
