Vans has unveiled a collaboration between rapper Tierra Whack, and Shirley Kurata, which will launch in December.

Vans x Tierra Whack is a collection that combines a “radical, colourful take on 1980s fashion” with key elements from Vans brand heritage and the “irreverent approach” of rappers to fashion and music.

Vans x Tierra Whack will be launched on December 3. It is a mix of colours, shapes and patterns that explores unlimited creativity. Vans x Tierra Whack aims to celebrate creativity, childhood expression, and Whack and Kurata add a sense of fun alongside the positive energy that comes with self-expression.

Whack released a statement about the collaboration. She said that it was “amazing experience to be able take my music and translate it into fashion. Music is about collaboration. It was great to collaborate with Shirley and Vans to create a collection that people can feel comfortable in.”

Vans x Tierra Whack Old Skool, and Style 36 footwear styles are highlights of the collaboration. The Old Skool has a large, multicoloured “Whack”, stamped on the quarter. A sidewall reading “Weird Hype and Creative Kids” is also featured on the Old Skool. This Old Skool was originally released as part of a promotional shoe run that Whack made for her fans at a 2019 House of Vans Philadelphia concert. It will be reissued as part of this new collection.

The Style 36 is all about graphic contrasts. It features a soft eco suede classic white upper with pops blue on the sidewall, and large puffy laces that loop through the collection’s signature “Weird Hype and Creative Kids” eyelets.

Vans x Tierra Whack Half Cab is Whack’s take on the Vans Classic. It blends unexpected colours and clashing Vans checkerboards. The Vans x Tierra Whack Standard Snow MTE, however, is in a bright, all-over, head-turning yellow.

Whack and Kurata curated a selection apparel, including the Vans x Tierra Whack Twofer. This heavy cotton ringer shirt features contrasting printed long sleeves and a message by the rapper “It’s okay to cry”. The apparel includes a Vans Authentic Chino, with wide cuffed hems, and a packable puffer vest. A reversible cotton ripstop bucket hat completes the ensemble.

Vans x Tierra Whack will be available at Vans.com and select Vans retailers starting December 3rd .
