Glosswire announced its support of the Virgil Abloh post-modern scholarship fund.

The company will donate 1 Dollar for every Glosswire app download. The scholarship is designed to encourage equity and inclusion within the fashion industry.

This year, twenty Post Modern scholars were awarded college scholarships worth 7,500 dollars

Virgil Abloh, in collaboration with the Fashion Scholarship Fund, created the scholarship fund. Abloh, who died in November, wanted to award scholarships to students of African-American, Black, or African descent.

Post Modern was the name of the fund to reflect the access and support that scholars will have to their careers and mentorship.

“Virgil had a direct and unmeasurable impact on the fashion industry at a time when many were trying to improve equity and inclusion,” Peter Arnold, Fashion Scholarship Fund executive director, said. “Virgil had always longed to connect with and support the 17-year-old version of himself. Out there are many young adults that deserve the opportunity and the way in’ Virgil was dedicated to providing.”

The 2021 Post Modern Scholars have completed internships in marketing, design, and merchandising at companies like Estee Lauder and Rimowa.

Kimberly Carney, founder and CEO of Glosswire said that “the world suffered a great deal with the passing of Virgil Abloh” on November 28. “A prolific, influential and popular creative force. He was also a leader in philanthropy.

Post Modern scholars were paired with marketing and creative mentors and received guidance from leaders at Baccarat and Bandier, Milk Makeup and New Guards Group, Nike, and Off-White.

In 2022, the next recipients will be announced.
