It’s not new, but it isn’t “new” hair tinsel actually made its debut in the ’90s, then again in the 2010s and now it’s back in full force for the holiday season. TikTok .is alive with the trend, giving My Little Pony a run for its money.
Unlike the iconic feather extensions, which were a heinous crime against fashion (Kesha we’re looking at you…), hair tinsel is way more versatile and has stood the test of time – cosigned by the like of Beyonce and Kacey Musgraves. Tinsel, also known as “fairy hair”, is easy to install and only $20 to DIY. It can be done in most salons equipped with other types. These glamorous locks will make you look fabulous for any holiday party.
Amazon has many options for these kits, but you should be aware that not all of them are available. Many kits come in packs of 10-15 colors of tinsel. If you want your hair to blend well, make sure you take your hair color into account. Blondes should choose silver tinsel and brunettes should opt for brown. You can choose any color that you like, or matches your outfit.
Also, make sure your tinsel includes the proper tools. You’ll need a pair pliers and a metal loop tool. Extension beads will also be needed. It is best to order the tinsel separately. This will ensure that you have all the tools you need and not compromise on the colors.
