Sojin Oh is the man behind Kylie Jenner, Cardi B and Billie Eilish’s nails. She is a Korean-born nail artist who immigrated to North America in her twenties to support her family. Oh’s dreams led her to Los Angeles where she worked in creative production for well-known fashion houses. She decided to pursue her creative side and work for herself so the Sojinails was created.
Oh is well-known for her unique nail art and talent. She has collaborated with some of the biggest names in entertainment, such as Rihanna and Lil Nas X. Oh has had the privilege to work with Louis Vuitton, YSL Beauty and many other celebrities. Oh explains that she wanted to represent the feminine elements and forms inherent in Mother Earth.
Anwering the question: “Do you believe nail art will be more important in the future because of its ability to communicate and play with our identities and personalities?”, Oh says, “It is. There will be many new nail artists creating and nurturing their talent. Nail art isn’t just about getting gel art done at a salon. Nail art was first developed in ancient China during the Zhou Dynasty to signify social status and royalty. However, today it is much more democratic and inclusive.”
