Balmain will launch a limited-edition collection of clothing and accessories in collaboration with Netflix to coincide the global release ‘The Harder They Fall’, starring Idris Elba.

Balmain x The Harder They Fall is Netflix’s first collaboration in luxury fashion. It combines the bold look of the film, which tells the story about Black cowboys with the finesse of a Balmain runway.

Olivier Rousteing, Balmain’s creative Director, has captured the Western spirit in a ready-to-wear capsule for men, women and children. It includes a suede jacket, fringed bags and mini skirts and tops with grommet embellishments.

After Rousteing was asked for a few costume designs, Rousteing presented them alongside Antoinette Messam’s costumes.

Rousteing released a statement about the collaboration saying, “I am so happy I was allowed to take a small role in this production. I was asked to design a few pieces that were seamlessly integrated into the wonderful atmosphere created by Antoinette Massam, the talented costume director.”

“But, truth be told, I was eager to do more. When ‘The Harder They Fall team asked me to help, I was delighted. This led to us deciding to collaborate on a limited-edition Balmain – The Harder They Fall Collection that is directly inspired by this pioneering Western.”

Jeymes Samuel, writer and director of “The Harder They Fall”, added that Balmain’s partnership was “a natural fit.” It was the same way every aspect of the movie was put together, with intuition and belief in the characters.

“Both on the catwalk Olivier Rousteing ensures that the Balmain brand is a strength that brings equality to all, regardless of race, gender or any other. Balmain, much like “The Harder They Fall”, is a savage, showing us that it hasn’t just come to play but that it is making a statement. If ever there was one, this is the perfect marriage.”

The Balmain x The Harder They Fall collection is now available at Balmain.com, select retail flagships, and on Netflix.shop and farfetch.com starting November 3.

Farfetch will also help bring the capsule collection to life through 3D social media content for Instagram. This will allow fans of the film as well as the Parisian label to be transported to the sets via social media and enable them to shop the capsule collection online.
